Yen-Ting grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. She has been living in the United States for five years to pursue her career as a ceramic artist. She received her Master’s of Fine Art in Ceramics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2017.
Yen-Ting is currently the owner of Yen-Ting Chiu Ceramics, which is located at stARTup Studios in Macon, Georgia. Her and her husband are also the founders of stARTup Studios. Yen-Ting has worked in ceramics for ten years. Her working experience has been diverse. While an undergraduate in Taiwan, most of her work was functional high-fire. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree, she had the chance to work in a ceramic studio that produced large-scale public ceramic sculptures; it was this experience that influenced her move towards sculptural work. While she was in grad school, she concentrated on creating low-fire handbuilt sculptures of cats. She strives to discuss varying ideas about the depiction of relationships through her work. |
